POSITION TITLE: 1.0 FTE PK-8 Section 504 Coordinator

 

FLSA: Exempt

 

REPORTS TO: PK-12 Director of Counseling

 

Terms of Employment:  184 day work year. Benefits and salary in accordance with the LEA Unit A collective bargaining agreement.

 

Immediate start date. Unit A 24-25 Salary Range  Salary prorated based on start date.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 Manages the Section 504 process:

  • Monitor and adhere to timelines for referrals, eligibility determinations, review, and completion of Section 504 Accommodation Plans and memos.
  • Utilize the student management system to create and access documentation and student record information.
  • Collaborate with staff to gather and share information pertaining to the Section 504 process.
  • Provide notices and document parental consent.
  • Determine and assemble appropriate Section 504 team composition.
  • Schedule and facilitate Section 504 Team meetings.
  • Write and distribute Section 504 plans and memos.
  • Create and maintain records and documentation for Section 504 in partnership with the LPS data team.
  • Effectively address concerns of staff, parents, advocates, and outside evaluators.
  • Provide support for transition of Section 504 from level to level (e.g. preschool to elementary, elementary to middle, middle to high school)
  • Furnish school data for DESE reporting, and all other local, state, and federal reporting as necessary.
  • Provide data to supervisors regarding trends.
  • Provide consultation and training to staff regarding Section 504.
  • Participate in professional learning to stay current with Section 504 best practices.
  • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards of the field and contribute to a positive and safe school culture.
  • Support diversity, equity and inclusion for all people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • MA Department of Elementary & Secondary Education License.
  • School experince preferred.
  • Competency/experience in Section 504 procedures and practice preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication and writing skills.
  • Interacts sensitively and effectively with students, parents, staff and other professionals.
  • Deal with challenging situations and people in a professional and non-judgmental manner.
  • Manage conflict and build consensus among and between individuals and teams.
  • Professional integrity, and strong decision-making and negotiation skills.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, and desire to support others in doing their best work.
